| Reaching Ex-offenders With The Love Of Christ | |||

Our Service Group is located in Orlando and is servicing the Central Florida area. We are endeavoring to reach out to the recently released prisoners in our area with the love of Christ by motivating and equipping the local church in its efforts to assist the transitioning ex-inmates. There are over 2000 inmates released into the Central Florida area each year. Many of these ex-prisoners are committed followers of Christ and are our brothers and sisters.
Reaching out to these men and women requires an army of volunteers from the local churches. We need mature Christian men and women to walk along side these ex-offenders and help them become the person God intended them to be.
My heart breaks for inmates who are released from prison, stand at the gate, and wonder what their next step should be, with little chance of leading a fruitful Christian life. As mentioned earlier the statistics show that approximately 70% of all ex-prisoners will go back to prison within two years of their release.
No one person or organization can take on the overwhelming task of prisoner aftercare, but together we can turn the tide and make a lasting change in the rising recidivism rate. If we reduce the recidivism rate we will ultimately reduce the crime rate.
The bottom line, we need volunteer mentors and resources to accomplish this daunting task. Please pray about your involvement in this endeavor.
